Coast Construction was born out of frustration. In 2015, we launched on the Outer Banks because we were tired of seeing homes damaged by rushed work and incomplete jobs. Every time we called a contractor, we felt like another line item on an invoice. That changed how we built our company.

I brought construction discipline from Tom Mullins Construction Company in Texas—decades of proven technique and precision. Then we learned something equally important from the time-tested builders right here on the Outer Banks. They understood how this place actually works: the salt air, the weather patterns, the soil, the light. We realized that the best work combines hard-won methods with local wisdom. New tools and finish techniques, yes. But also the longest-standing building practices of our area. That's where real quality lives.

Your home isn't a job to us. It's the place where your family makes memories. We don't get our final check until you're happy with the result. That simple rule changed everything about how we work.

What We've Learned

Get it right the first time. We've spent years going in after contractors who didn't know how to build or who didn't finish the job. Rework costs money, creates frustration, and wastes everyone's time. When we frame a deck, install windows, or pour a foundation, we do it correctly from the start because we know the cost of cutting corners always comes due.

Respect the location. Dare County has taught us that local knowledge matters. We don't treat the Outer Banks like a generic building site. The weather moves differently here. Materials weather differently. Drainage behaves differently. When you build in harmony with your environment instead of against it, your home lasts for generations. That's the difference between a structure and a home.
